La Paz: One of the BEST Places for 2020 from The New York Times & Huffington Post!
Just a short 2-hour, super scenic drive up the coast from Cabo is the captivating city of La Paz. The 250,000-person capital of Baja California Sur state –a historical, dynamic city full of culture and art.
What’s awesome about La Paz is that it’s not as commercialized as many of the other popular cities of Los Cabos –there are no large-scale resorts or American chain restaurants/establishments. It’s a multicultural town without mass tourism.
And the people of La Paz care deeply about the environment and preserving it.
In fact, The New York Times just ranked La Paz as 1 of 52 BEST Places to Travel to in 2020
and in a recent article in The Huffington Postranked La Paz as #35 of 50 Awesome SoloTravel Destinations to Visit In 2020. The article praised the pristine, remote beaches and the thrilling adventure of swimming with the whale sharks.
We highly recommend renting a car and exploring all around the tip of the Southern Baja. You can rent a car for as little as $25 a day!
Driving into La Paz is breathtaking; the Sea of Cortez is absolutely stunning, as is the drive along the Malecón. You will definitely want to stroll along the magical Malecón end to end (it’s around 5 kms /3 miles long) –a wide paved seawall that sits along the edge of the sea.
There are bike lanes, a skate park, fountains and beautiful artistic sculptures and statues by prominent Mexican artists, showcasing the local marine life and historical figures.
Across the Malecón, along the main street, there are countless cafes, bars and amazing restaurants. And, it is super safe, even after dark.
La Paz has something for everyone, come and see it for yourself!
